Blood Gate, The
The fortifications that link the Old Quarter to the Market Quarter
The Blood Gate stands at the entrance to the Market Quarter, where the broad Kingsway sweeps down Kings Hill and through the Old Quarter, then on to the banks of the River Tibor.
The Blood Gate is in fact a long tunnel with gates either end and a series of port-cullis that can be lowered to trap unfortunate assailants in the tunnel itself.
The Blood Gate is part of the route taken for ceremonial processions that lead all the way from the White Palace down to Martyrs Bridge and on to Kings Isle beyond.
