The Ruby House is the FIRST book in The Circle of Souls.
The story creates a rich mythology, interweaving an epic tale of a fantasy world seen through the eyes of ten year-old Maia, while she grows up within a world of scheming royal courts and the looming threat of civil war.
Lady Maia Swanne of House Emerald is happy to have returned from the dusty Provinces with her Father, Duke Ferdinand, but not everything is as it seems with the Kingdom of Heldrassë. Soon, she will be thrown into a world of magic and corruption, where the Great Houses plot and vie for power, and where a Book of Souls suggests that Maia will be at the heart of events that will change the course of history.

THE AWAKENING BLADE
The Awakening Blade is the sequel story to The Ruby House.
Maia and Erebus have survived their adventures during their first year at the palace school.
They hope that events may return to normal, now that their loathsome tutor Madame Gourgonne is no longer teaching them.
But, there is still much unfinished business to attend to, and rumours of unrest in the kingdom of Heldrassë are beginning to reach even this high up on Kings' Hill.
The Ruby House is scheduled for release in late 2023.

The Fragments from the Book of Souls are a collection of short stories discovered by Erebus and Maia in The Ruby House novel. They are stand-alone stories, but each tell different aspects of the lives of Erebus and Maia.

The Riddled Gaithe of Undersane
The fourth 'Fragment from the Book of Souls'.
The Riddled Gaithe of Undersane is a curious nonsense poem that tells the tale of a young man's search for knowing.
Extract:
On blackened stumps of sallow night
the tavern door aflung,
and cursing out the rain,
the shadow figure thuddered down
beside the pensing boy alone.
Looks away,
the boy, yet strange,
the shadow figure draws his eye,
and then a purse is flung on table top
and shadow rasps his name:
"Heard Ye of the Fabled Gaithe of UnderSane?"
Not pausing for the boy's surprise
he gloams:
"No petty liturgy, The Gaithe,
no man yet lives to tell its truth.
The Gaithe, the secret no-one dares to find,
but brave enough be you."
