01 -- A Light In The Dark

An audio recording from the Hayden Hill Research Facility...

02 -- Heaven Decays

Professor Keith Lambert has been assassinated in baffling circumstances.

The killers entered his hotel room and then disappeared without a trace.

Meanwhile, the expedition led by Saul Davisson travels through into the Heavenfield. But back at the Maunsworth Research Facility, Grace Palmer has her suspicions about the welfare of Pattie Harvey – one of the expedition team in the Field.

The man Pattie has recently met, Alex, meets with Dragor Millovich, and tells of how he is manipulating and conditioning Pattie with mind-altering drugs.

Out in the Heavenfield, Pattie spies an apple tree. Without thinking, she releases the safety bolts on her helmet and opens her visor to the Heavenfield's unknown atmosphere...

03 -- Shipwrecked

Previously... Grace Palmer's suspicions prove correct, as she finds proof of foul play in Pattie's medical records, and determines to cut short the expedition into the Heavenfield.

But the Accelerator Array brings back only one body – Pattie's. Her contact with the atmosphere in the Heavenfield has had disastrous consequences. With her death, the fantastic landscape has reduced to dust and a howling sandstorm engulfs the four remaining team members. But the storm also heralds the arrival of a terrifying entity – some devil-like creature. Saul Davisson and Gary Starling flee into the dust clouds, running direction-less until they fall from exhaustion.

As the scientists at the Maunsworth Research Facility prepare again for the return of the team, an act of sabotage by Dan Earl leads to an explosion within the Accelerator Array that could strand the team in the Heavenfield...

Hi. I’m in the UK. I can’t remember where I first found the Heavenfield but about 2 ( or a bit longer ago). I listen to a lot of audiobooks but somehow the Heavenfield has moved into my mind and stayed. I love the imagination and creative plot, I love the surreal and the parallels with life. I find the narration tone and the sound effects haunting. I also love the artwork, the burning eyes and the truly awful monsters. I’m very much enjoying Otto’s diary. I really hope one day that the Heavenfield is taken up by a major studio for filming ( only if it remains true to your writing). It deserves to be famous and become a classic. I don’t often write reviews but so wanted to add to encouragement. I cannot imagine how much of your time and life is dedicated to this. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful comment! It really does give me a boost of encouragement to hear that others are enjoying the story.

I would love to see the stories available to a wider audience too – that’s the part I’m never very good at doing, but hopefully if I keep plugging away, then more people will get to hear about it.

I’ve been really pleased with how the audiobook for The Diary of Otto Kandinsky turned out – I’m hoping to make a start on The Dead Man’s Feast really soon, as well as getting back to finishing the fourth novel.

I’m just in the process of laying out the print versions of the Diary, so they should become available in a few weeks.

Thanks again for your comment, and do keep in touch and let me know how you enjoy the other stories.

      All the best,

      I G

I listened to this bokk probably way back in 2016? And here it is 2018 and I just now have joined the website. I for one will say, perfect 10/10. The way you spoke the book really captures the atmosphere of the mood and feelings of each scene. I have listened to it probably 3 times now and have been actively recommending it to my friends and family. I am curious if you’ll ever maybe write another novel using Heavenfield as like a prequel. Keep up the great work my dude!

    • heavenfield

Wow, thanks for such a lovely comment – it’s great to hear that you are enjoying the story!

I am currently in the middle of writing the fourth Heavenfield novel, whose events follow on from the first book.

There are two complete audiobooks at present: The Heavenfield and The Diary of Otto Kandinsky.

I’m starting to record the third audiobook – The Dead Man’s Feast – soon (I’ve had to take on a lot of other work recently, so am a bit delayed). You can get early access to this if you are a Patron of the Heavenfield. You can find out more about that here:

Thanks again, hope you enjoy the other stories too!

Just listening to this now while, coincidentally, waiting to head out to the studio to record a few chapters of my own audio book.

I only stumbled on The Heavenfield today but I must say I’m loving it so far. Very good.

    • heavenfield

      Glad you’re enjoying the story!

Interesting to hear you are recording an audio book too – is it up on the web?

      I G

      • ghost

I certainly am, yes. It’s very interesting. I love this kind of thing, anything with mystery and strange dimensions is very much up my street and this is a very fine example, if you don’t mind me saying so.

As to your question, not yet I’m afraid, but it will be in time. I’ll release it in 2017 Initially on my Patreaon and then later on my website or Youtube. The early drafts of the novel it is from (originally for beta readers) are online on my blog though if you are interested.

Thanks for that – looks interesting – I’ll have a read!
And keep me posted how you get on in 2017.
          All the best,
          I G

    Hi Assonta,

just an update to let you know that I’ve now moved the download links to Dropbox, so if you were still encountering any issues, you should be able to download all the episodes now.

    Many thanks,
    I G

  5. Monoca Stackhouse

Hi again, how do we change our username that shows? I would like it to be just MRS. Thank you!

    • heavenfield

      Hi,
great to hear that you’re enjoying the stories, and sorry to hear that you’re having trouble downloading them!

I’m going to experiment uploading the files to Dropbox instead of hosting them myself; this should sort out any problems. It will take a few hours to upload, so I’ll add a link to an interim page, and you can see the files as they are added.

Please test them and let me know if they download okay for you.

If all goes well I’ll replace the current download links with the Dropbox ones.

I’ve put a link to the interim download page in the page above (you need to be logged in to see it).

As for your other request to change your username display:
Click on ‘My Account’ in the top menu and find the ‘Display name’ box. Just type in your desired name and click ‘Save All Changes’

Thanks, and hope you enjoy the rest of the story! There’s lots more on its way if you do – There’s an ongoing audiobook called ‘The Diary of Otto Kandinsky’, and if I can get enough support on Patreon I’ll start recording the sequel audiobook too. They’ll all be free to listen to when complete – hopefully soon! 🙂

  6. Monoca Stackhouse

Hi, yes. I am unable to download the podcast episodes also. At least at home I can stream them, but would rather download. Please let us all know if you find and fix the issue. Thanks, and only on ep 4 but love it!

  7. Jennifer Perkins

WOW! Just listened to this again. It’s been several years and it’s as enthralling today as it was then.

Thank you so much Mr. Hulme.

    • Ian Hulme

Thank you Jennifer! Can’t wait to get on with recording the sequel!

Sorry for my late post – I’ve just found out I haven’t been receiving notifications when someone comments – hopefully all fixed now!

  8. Terence Griffin

Podcast help? I found the Podiocast feeds for Books 1-3. The feed for the complete Books1-4 seems to be at
feeds.theheavefield.com/heavenfield/. When I preview the feed in DoggCatcher, it lists all the episodes,
but if I subscribe, I only get the “first” episode. The title is “Episode 1 – A light in he Dark.” When I play that,
it seems to be episode 28. Is there a Podiocast link for the whole thing? Another location?

Don’t worry. I DL-ed the first three book, so I can keep busy with those for a while.

    Thanks for your help!

    • heavenfield

Hi Terence, sorry for the late reply – I’d missed this comment.
Are you still having trouble with the podcast feed?

The link http://feeds.theheavenfield.com/heavenfield should work okay, but you can also get it from iTunes (search “Heavenfield Official”, and if you register on this site you get access to all the episodes, and you can download them too.

      Hope this helps,

      Thanks! 🙂

      I G

  9. niki smith

Are you planning to release the new book as a positioning?

    • niki smith

That should say podiobook, predictive text, lol!

      • heavenfield

Haha! Thanks for your comment Niki. 🙂

I am planning on doing an audio version of the sequel, but sadly I don’t have the budget to start work on it yet. I’m hoping that with a few more followers I’ll be able to run a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds necessary.

I wrote a bit more about it in a news post here.

I’d love to get started on it soon! I’ve just recently been working on a few audio trailers which got me excited about recording again – you can listen to them on Youtube: https://youtu.be/fkYtDZqdCpI

Thanks again for writing – if you haven’t already, then please Like the Heavenfield Facebook page to keep up with any news on the sequel audiobook.

        Thanks.
        I G

  10. JMAppelhanz

Seems to be working just fine now.

    Thank you very much.
Love the work you put into this.

    • heavenfield

Thanks! Got loads more on the way in the not-too-distant future. 🙂

  11. heavenfield

    Hiya,

thanks for pointing that out! I still had the old file permissions in place…

Should all be fixed now. Let me know if you have any further trouble with it.

    Thanks!
    I G
