During the Luminal Invasion, the Serena's owners, unable to escape the Viridis system, found refuge in New Eden.

The Serena was then used by a group of Outlanders headed by Jean-Baptiste Grande to ferry their people aboard the colony ship Ibis.

Later, the battered little freighter became a part of Rat City, a collection of hulks and cargo pods that made up the refugee camp aboard the Defiance.
