Out of the two sisters, Ivy is the proudest and most wilful. She is outspoken and emotional, and has a deep sense of injustice at being forced to reside at the palace.
She struggles to accept that her twin sister has the honour of being heir to the Sapphire House, but is nevertheless deeply loyal.
She spied a ribbon of blue-clad figures approaching the top of the steps, the gowns of their ladies shimmering like the seas. Elisabeth and Ivy Avalorre were at the head of the procession, each of their faces partially concealed by jewel-encrusted masks in the likeness of seahorses.
